A Strategic Line for Passengers and Freight Complementing the Proposed East-West Rail Route

Merits of the Proposed Railway Lines

A renewed Cambridge to Colchester rail-link would join two major urban centres, and serve the transport needs of around 300,000 people.

The same rail-link would complement and relieve the existing line from Felixstowe to the English Midlands, West and North, as well as the busy A14

Both lines would contribute to the British economy by facilitating both tourist passenger and freight traffic from continental Eurpoe via the North Sea Ports.

East-West Rail would reduce traveling times, eg. Cambridge to Oxford in just over 2 hours as against over 4 hour by bus.
